What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders?
Our immune systems can fight cancer (and do it quite effectively most of the time), but immune cells can be hijacked by tumors to βwork forβ cancer cells instead of destroying them.
Lupus can be debilitating and sometimes deadly for the 3 million people who have it. A treatment called CAR T-cell therapy appears to stop it in its tracks.

It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.
