⚓️ I would have loved to stay on the boat, but it's time to go back... Returning to dry land in a zodiac. Thanks to the crew, fair winds and following seas!

A Vanuatu fisheries officer is currently on board the D’Entrecasteaux for a joint fisheries policing mission. At every stopover, Vanuatu officers join French maritime patrols — a concrete and valuable example of operational cooperation.

⚓️ End of the stopover in Port Vila. The D'Entrecasteaux sets sail, and I am lucky enough to be on board to witness the manoeuvre to leave the port and the bay. Off we go!

Un officier des pêches vanuatais est embarqué à bord du D’Entrecasteaux pour une mission de police des pêches. À chaque escale désormais, des officiers vanuatais participent aux patrouilles maritimes françaises. Une coopération concrète et précieuse.

With the launch of Vanuatu’s first Marine Sciences School, IRD is making headlines in the national daily - a milestone for French-Vanuatu scientific cooperation.

First kava for IRD CEO Valérie Verdier, joined by volcanologist Philipson Bani and VMGD director Levu Antfalo - an essential (and occasionally bewildering) rite of passage for any visitor to Vanuatu!

Cocktail at the embassy to honour the visit of IRD CEO Valérie Verdier, who today opened Vanuatu’s first Marine Sciences School and signed a framework agreement with the VMGD - a new step in our growing scientific cooperation.

The IRD (formerly ORSTOM) has been working in and with Vanuatu (New Hebrides) since the 1970s on fishing, botany, volcanology, etc. But there was no framework agreement. It has now been signed by CEO Valérie Verdier and VMGD Director Levu Antfalo.

🇫🇷🔬 French research in the spotlight in Vanuatu: historic visit by IRD CEO Valérie Verdier, with @phil-ird.bsky.social (Deputy Director for Science) and Éric Vidal, head of IRD's largest branch in Nouméa — 120 staff, 4 ha, and 4,000 m² of labs.

The first Marine Sciences School in Vanuatu - a French initiative by IRD, with AUF and the French MFA. 20 IRD researchers are training students and professionals at the National University. Opening with President Valérie Verdier.

General Latil has officially handed over command of the French Armed Forces in New Caledonia. Just days earlier in Port Vila, he bid farewell to COL Mwele of the VMF. Thank you, dear Yann, for two intense and fruitful years — see you soon in Paris!

Cocktail à l’ambassade en l’honneur de la visite au Vanuatu de la PDG de l’Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) Valérie Verdier, qui a ouvert ce jour la première école de sciences marines du pays et signé un accord-cadre avec le VMGD, renforçant notre coopération scientifique.

L'IRD (d'abord ORSTOM) travaille au et avec le Vanuatu (Nouvelles-Hébrides) depuis les années 1970, sur la pêche, la botanique, la volcanologie, etc. Mais il manquait un accord-cadre. Il est désormais signé entre la PDG Valérie Verdier et le directeur du VMGD Levu Antfalo.

La recherche française à l’honneur au Vanuatu : visite historique de la PDG de l’IRD, Valérie Verdier, avec Philippe Charvis (directeur délégué à la Science) et Éric Vidal, qui dirige à Nouméa la plus grosse antenne de l’IRD dans le monde (120 agents, 4 ha, 4000 m² de labos).
