Dishwashers are far more water and energy efficient than hand-washing in a basin. Plus, the electricity used by a dishwasher can come from renewables if you want (100% grid renewables here) which is impossible with hot water produced by, say, a gas boiler. More economical and eco-friendly.

I don't know where you live but in most countries the law will not punish you for falsely claiming to be a duck owner.
