Daddy settles you on his lap, wrapping his arm around you. In his hand, he brings the bottle, full of very special milk for your tummy.
"I don't want that anymore, Daddy" you say, turning your head away. "I don't use bottles, big kids drink from cups."

I literally said this last week with two non-furry friends and they agreed. The daddy of the two asked his boy “oh do you like Simba?” And he just went 👀🫦🫦🥵 well yeah.

Your New Hierarchy of Needs:
1. Self Actualization: you want to be your best diapered self
2. Self-Esteem: you feel comfy and cute in diapers
3. Love & Belonging: you belong in diapers
4. Safety & Security: stuffies, onesies, pacifiers, your cg
5. Physiological Needs: diaper changes, wipes, powder

All this to say, yes AI is bad because it stole work from artists, and also welcome to the design world in the capitalistic hellscape. Big companies have been devaluing design more every year and still succeeding in their business, which pressures the little companies to do the same.

And when people do care about design it’s often been in the form of public backlash against new logos, new designs, etc. So marketers started seeing new visual directions as too risky, preferring neutral but inoffensive stock photos and illustrations and brands that made incremental minor changes.

There are prob thousands of illustrations in similar styles bc companies wanted generic illustrations that work for multiple concepts. They started seeing custom work as too specific, limiting, and not worth the money for a single use case. The illustration budgets got tighter bc people didn’t care.

I love that yall do not support AI, and I don’t either, but the problem of people not caring about design and illustration is way bigger and more nuanced that just “stop using AI.” If you google Corporate Memphis you’ll see one particular illustration style that has spread like a plague (image 👇)

Before AI most companies were using stock images sites instead of paying for custom illustrations, and even the ones who did pay for custom illustrations, they’d hire a contractor for a batch of illustrations and then let them go. They don’t see them as full time employees in this gig economy.

I’m telling you as a graphic designer of 14 years… most people do NOT care about illustration and design. It’s not a high priority in their business model. Small companies hire outside agencies, contractors, or just get their social media intern to make something on canva.
