Mageye is an extremely disturbing adventure about a bird trying to save her last baby by feeding it... human eyes. From the sound to theme and art, everything is quite uneasy, for an adventure mixing simple flight gameplay and VN.

Paracom is a military-themed JRPG inspired by Fear & Hunger, where you control a paranormal SWAT team exploring a "mimic" house. Behind the simple style hides an interesting lore, credible actions, and choices with consequences.

Catalina's Horror Adventure is in-between horror and comedy, where you must explore a parallel world behind an arcade searching for your mom. Reminiscent of Earthbound, a horror adventure mixing Zelda-like puzzles and a shooter, with really bizarre NPCs.

Trench Face is clearly inspired by Fear & Hunger, a short dark JRPG set in a twisted and horror WW1 setting. Explore gas-filled trenches, fight tough puppet soldiers, and select different classes, from sniper to flamethrower or a humanoid rat.

The free playtest of Mama's Sleeping Angels showcased an insane and surreal co-op horror game. Be ready to decapitate yourself or your friends, avoid twisted beings while kissing others to regain health, and, of course, feed cursed items to Mama, ending the dreams.

APlaceDominatedByHoles is a simple Chinese-only RPG with peculiar art, where a talking hole appears on a troubled girl's arm. Plan your days, fight other holed people to absorb their powers, and trade health with a mysterious merchant.

Stones of Flesh is a peculiar JRPG set in a nightmarish world made in claymation. Alone in this dungeon, learn new stop-motion gifts and use them to survive, by throwing flames to "turn the eyeballs all the way around".

This year is very promising for RPGmaker horror RPGs, with already some great titles:

Despiria is a Japanese-only sci-fi nightmarish JRPG produced by Atlus for Dreamcast. And while you would probably never play it in English, have a look at some of the most disturbing enemies in my article.

Dig Night is a comedy-dark JRPG where you work as a cleaner in a city where people turn into ghosts. A game full of details and personality, from old-cartoon ghosts to mini-games and a cinema with short stop-motion movies.

A Chamber of Stars is the the sequel of the amazing The Endless Empty. Venture again inside a distressful mind, moving from domains such as anxiety or creation. Puzzles, rhythm guitar "battles", and great characters/writing shape this surreal adventure.

Necrophosis is a horror adventure with disturbing puzzles set in basically an explorable Beksiński's painting, a hellish landscape with an insane amount of details and grotesque beings that is a pleasure to explore.

Navicula Meatus is a cryptic and mysterious adventure where you play as a crab creature in a city of grotesque beings, where even the dialogues are incomprehensible. Exchange items and money with the inhabitants to unlock more areas.

A knight obsessed with blood, a regenerating ghoul always in a cage, an ugly elf who claims to be a chef, and other disturbing NPCs. Check all the party members of Blood Soaked Bastard in our video.
