The worst-case scenario of famine is already unfolding in #Gaza & the humanitarian situation is deteriorating.

We must act now to stop the catastrophic human suffering.

Ensure full & unimpeded humanitarian access including to aid and fuel.

Time is running out.

I welcome the increase in fuel being approved for entry and we are expecting to bring in approx 150k L today.

However, this is much less than what Gaza needs to survive day-to-day. We continue to call for entry of additional quantities in support of the humanitarian operations.

Reports in that @UNOPS.org premises in central #Gaza was struck today. My immense gratitude & thoughts are with colleagues supporting humanitarian operations in such difficult times.

Aid workers must be protected & all parties must abide by international humanitarian law.

My @unops.org colleagues are continuing to deliver fuel across #Gaza, reaching the north this morning. Fuel is vital: without it, water can't be desalinated, hospitals lose power, bakeries stop. This is the lifeline for survival.

Karuna Herrmann, Director of UNOPS Jerusalem, told BBC News that only a third of needed fuel is entering Gaza.

"If fuel runs out, the consequences are severe and immediate."

After weeks of daily attempts, @UNOPS.org in #Gaza retrieved 280,000 litres of fuel from storage tanks last night. But this positive step covers only a day's worth of the most critical needs. To keep essential humanitarian work running, we need sustained access to fuel in Gaza and new supplies.

Every year, 1000s of ppl are killed or injured by mines, explosive remnants of war & improvised explosive devices.

We're committed to the collective action needed to mitigate the threat of explosive ordnance & supporting those impacted.

The fuel we can access in our storage tanks in Gaza will run out in the coming days.

Without fuel, hospitals can’t work. Bakeries can’t run. Ambulances won’t move.

Aid must resume, unconditionally, at scale and through all corridors.

There is a contract between us and the ocean. It gives us food, oxygen, climate stability, $3T in value every year.

In return? We invest almost nothing.

And we all know what happens when you fail to invest in something vital: it fails.
