The endangerment finding is EPAโ€™s determination that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare, which is what legally *requires* the federal government to regulate climate pollution under the Clean Air Act. Itโ€™s the foundation of U.S. climate regulation.

@fieldnotes.co's thread on how the oil & gas industry pushed EPA to rescind the endangerment finding, but is now scared the extreme rollback could leave it vulnerable to "polluter-pays" laws and lawsuits. โฌ‡๏ธ

Trump just killed the EPAโ€™s ability to fight climate change. It may backfire. The EPAโ€™s repeal of the โ€œendangerment findingโ€ could threaten automakers and oil companies โ€” if it survives in court.

Crucial point from @grist.org:

"API pioneered many of the arguments now wielded against the endangerment finding... Trumpโ€™s EPA used many of these same arguments in its proposed endangerment finding repeal, demonstrating how much his deregulatory agenda owes to the oil industryโ€™s work."

The EPA is expected to revoke the endangerment finding, which has underpinned the governmentโ€™s ability to fight global warming since 2009.

The man behind the fall of offshore wind David Stevenson has solar on his roof and drives a hybrid. How did he become the leader of the movement that helped Trump crush offshore wind farms?

In Feb 2023, I attended a climate skeptics conference in Orlando. I was the only reporter.

David Stevenson told me there that the offshore wind industry would โ€‹โ€œcrumbleโ€ before it reached South Carolina. And that he was leading the opposition.

I followed him for 3 years and wrote this story.

Why are famous chefs fighting PFAS bans? The answer, in retrospect, is obviousโ€”and itโ€™s part of a larger campaign to stop bans on Teflon cookware nationwide.

Celebrity chefs told Californians that PFAS-coated pans were โ€œsafe,โ€ and successfully lobbied Gavin Newsom to veto a bill phasing them out

They didnโ€™t mention they all sell PFAS-coated pans.
