What is social about care? | We talk about social care all the time. But we rarely pause to ask a more basic question: What, exactly, is social about it? In policy debates, social care is often reduced to a workforce challenge...

An interesting read....

Martin Lewis urges Scottish Government to improve Power of Attorney system in new letter People in Scotland are being

I wasn't aware that using Power of Attorney here in Scotland was so much more complicated than in rUK. I guess you don't until you're in a stressful place trying to use it.
Glad to see Martin Lewis has been in touch with Angela Constance about it.

Donald Trump won this district in Louisiana by 13 points in 2024.

The Democrat just crushed a Republican extremist in this district by 24 points.

Folks, that’s a 37 point swing to the left. We can compete everywhere and win anywhere. Let’s keep this up!

Something similar happens with Puffins. Their fancy beak is there to distract from it.

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

We've worked as part of the Bereavement Charter group to develop a Manifesto.

It sets out 4 simple actions that the next Scottish Government can take to improve experiences for bereaved people in Scotland.

I'm sure some in the UK would have differing definitions to those I've given😀. The terminology in this field is tricky to navigate, especially for the public (and for some professionals too), which is a problem.

In the UK the meanings aren't the same. Hospice care is palliative care (when provided by a hospice). It can include end of life care but isn't limited to that.

She isn't giving "the nobel prize" in any meaningful sense. She's merely indulging in absurd theatre just like all the other heads of state (nb men) who have stood next to Trump & pretended to respect him. Surely only Donald Trump is stupid enough to think this carries any meaning. Joke's on him.

Democrats need to realize ICE isn’t just—or even primarily—a mass deportation force.

ICE is also Trump’s most loyal internal security force which will be used to attack regime opponents and try to steal the election. They should defund his authoritarian capabilities.
