13.02.2025 21:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Even if the reason for the change is fueled by anti-immigrant racism, it seems A) technically more accurate, actually, and B) NOT A BIG DEAL GIVEN THE CANCER RESEARCH FINDING CUTS, TREASURY TAKEOVER, COUP, REAL-ACTUAL INVESTMENTS IN DEPORTATION, TRANSPHOBIC PASSPORT CONFISCATIONS, ETC??? Right???
12.02.2025 17:46 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hot take, and please feel free to help me out if I'm full of shit here, but I think it's bizarre how much attention is being given to the Gulf of Mexico/America thing, given that "America" is the name of the entire continent.
12.02.2025 17:46 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Anyone else on here love making their space sooo cozy? π€
10.02.2025 15:29 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0As a companion to my last post, sound on for Sandhill Cranes calling nearby as they fly low across the water, invisible in the fog, with their cries reverberating through space and time, etc etc
10.02.2025 01:40 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0We had a very full week/end, but one of the absolute highlights was waking up at my mom's house on the lake to the thickest and most enduring fog I've ever seen in my life. Of course we took out the canoe.

By the way, if you're into pics of Florida critters, I mostly post those over on Instagram. Find me @aquiferious!
I sure love a good barn dance! Thanks to the FLORA Conference for having me and the Varmint Family out to play!
02.02.2025 03:35 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm a nerd for this stuff, but I thought this was a *great* article. If you're into Florida native wetlands, too, give it a read!

28.01.2025 14:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Since I've begun substitute teaching, I've been wondering the same thing. It's seriously exhausting!
27.01.2025 23:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This method doesn't really leave room for under-doing it, which is nice! ππ©·ππ€
27.01.2025 16:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Here's the link to buy one for yourself! It's not a super high-quality product, but I'm happy with it as an experiment, and it's very easy to use, mechanically speaking.

I bought a CMYK ballpoint pen as something to bring to a figure drawing session I help run on Tuesdays β I've been needing a new challenge. In theory, with CMYK on white paper, I should be able to achieve a full visible color spectrum!
This was a quick sketch from an old photo β proof of concept!
Finished that hat! Just in time for historic Florida Snow β shhh, no, it didn't snow where I live, but it's still definitely cold enough to justify a double-knit wool hat!
23.01.2025 20:43 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Recognizing that you might not see this reply, but β can you say more about what this means and/or why you're using it?
23.01.2025 03:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh???
19.01.2025 04:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's just double-knitting! You work two panels with two strands at the same time on the same needles, usually in contrasting colors. Then you can swap the threads on certain stitches to create patterns. It's deceptively easy but takes twice as long. Double thick, extra warm, reversible!
18.01.2025 19:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Humane Society Thrift in my town seems to be the place where crafters offload their stashes β I just recently figured this out. There were maybe 8 balls of Sky there, three color ways. I don't knit much anymore since I live in Florida, but with the cold this year I couldn't resist!
18.01.2025 17:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0By the way, I'm double-knitting using two skeins of KFI Painted Sky superwash Australian wool in "Gold Rush". I thrifted them for $3 each! Even though the yarn balls are from the same dye lot, they were wound out of sync from one another, giving the knit this effect.
18.01.2025 16:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Low-key, this might be one of the prettiest knits I've ever started. I'm notoriously bad at finishing new projects (I pulled an abandoned project off my needles to start this one) so I'm posting here as a kind of hopeful accountability β I want to bring this double-knit hat into the world! π§Ά

16.01.2025 15:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not feeling compelled to use this platform yet. I've been pretty geographically isolated from the vast majority of my existing social network, so rebuilding here with a bunch of folks I've felt barely connected to has felt weird.
Anyway, I've been sewing a lot and it's cold, so I made Albie a bed!
Here's a reminder if my bathroom "before", though it already has the new shower curtain. Ugh!!!
