“Let us make light of thousands of days and desire one day, the day that has no sunrise, no sunset, the one day that is an eternal day, the day that does not displace yesterday or find itself hard pressed by tomorrow. That one day is what we should desire.”

I’m the same, and I started in the middle because Andrew has the first book, so I need to go back to the beginning. What a joy. It is *almost* making pre-5am wake-ups manageable 😬

I can’t remember a time a commentary helped me enjoy God this much — so much wisdom and beauty drawn out of the Psalms. Just wonderful.

“There was a man who dwelt in the east centuries ago,
And now I cannot look at a sheep or a sparrow,
A lily or a cornfield, a raven or a sunset,
A vineyard or a mountain, without thinking of him.”

"You are very, very welcome here in Downing Street. As you heard from the cheers on the street outside, you have full backing across the United Kingdom. We will stand with you and Ukraine for as long as it may take."

You Are a Burden And that’s phenomenally good news. We often hear people declare that they ‘didn’t want to be a burden’ to their loved ones, especially their immediate family. Right now, in the zeitgeist, people might be talking about why they might choose to commit suicide when they’re diagnosed with some sort of life-altering or life-ending illness. We hear it much wider than that though, often as an explanation for why someone didn’t ask for help before a problem got so bad someone else wanted to intervene.

We are meant to be burdens to one another.

Our power is in our reliance. We give Jesus our weakness. Jesus gives us his strength. We give Jesus our not-knowing. Jesus gives us his wisdom & revelation. We give Jesus our frustration. Jesus gives us his promises. We give Jesus our fears. Jesus gives us his courage.

When we make room for the homeless, the immigrant, the orphan, the widow, and down trodden we are making room for Jesus.

Yes, Jesus Was a Refugee - Christianity Today From Russell Moore: Jesus is with the refugees in their camp. He calls us to join him.

“We won’t always agree on how to design a national refugee policy,” writes @drmoore.bsky.social.

“But we can’t say we haven’t been warned about what happens to us when we learn to harden our hearts to those in danger.”

“Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster is passed.” Ps 57:1

Not watering down his disastrous reality (hidden in a cave from Saul’s relentless pursuit), yet singing (v7) beneath the wings of refuge.

The Radiance of Real Holiness A reflection on why holiness is compelling and why encountering a saintly individual leaves us feeling inspired and enlarged, not inadequate or diminished.

“True holiness shines a spotlight, but it never points to the self. Instead, it directs our gaze to Jesus.”
