Finally got my new flat the way I want it, so today I'm getting back to the writing life. Starting to work through a crime trilogy to which I've had the rights back, to get it ready for either self-pubbing, or approaching a new indie publisher I've heard are looking for experienced authors. YESSS! 🤩

This time last week I was gearing up for a rainy day house move, having to divert down muddy lanes because of flooding, and every single limb already screaming from filling and moving boxes for 2 weeks straight. Today it's toast, coffee, sunshine, and an office I can work in. 😍 Just...soaking it up!

For the last several (12-ish?) years, at this time of year, I've either just had a book out, or one coming out soon, and another one hurtling towards some deadline. Feels odd to be writing to my own schedule now, but I love this world I've created, and very happy to be going back to it for a bit!

Just realised it's a year today since I had the zoom call where my agent @louisebuckley.bsky.social and I agreed to give this thing a go. Just tipped over the 70k mark on my #WIP, which will be #23 (solo) or #26 if you count my co-writes. It's still the biggest milestone to me, knowing I'm on the downhill slide home towards the 100k I aim for, and that now I can start pulling at all the threads to tie them together! #booksky

Wondering if I can take classes in how to be the squeaky wheel. Bit fed up with being the good, quiet one, rolling along at the back, but nature has carved me this way. Going to start squeaking at some point... whether that will result in the oil or the bonfire is anyone's guess.

Had an insanely busy day, but just had to carve a bit of time out to review this fantastic book, by Sheelagh Aston. Privileged to have read an early draft, as well as the completed novel, and I can tell you this is one writer to be on the lookout for!

I'm halfway through a sequel to a book that hasn't yet got a home, and wondering what the hell I'm doing this for! BUT - I love the way this story is unfolding, and how the family dynamics are splintering, and re-forming in new and unexpected shapes, so I'm going to push on and see where it takes me
