We are weeks from the holidays: vacations, TRAVEL, black friday shopping, etc and people not having food benefits, actual paychecks, huge insurance costs incoming. I'm sure they said: we made our point, we showed that the GOP doesn't give a fuck and its time to NOT be part of the suffering

he is a shite human being, but he also has dementia and anyone that has gone through family with dementia can see it. He simply doesn't understand anything going on around him and thus does weird stuff.

The amount of gaslighting from the GOP is so tiresome.
05.11.2025 17:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Its already to late. Change won't come until the next election when they refuse to count votes, deny votes, etc. If they are dumb enough to use violence against the wrong group or in the wrong place, maybe, but as long as the dementia patient is running the show - its too late.

This weekend was Hex-and-Counter weekend with @nwinches.bsky.social - Crossing the Line: Aachen 1944, Fighting Formations: Grossdeutschland Motorized Infantry Division, and South Pacific (EotS). Two were new, and I had to recall everything to explain SP - my brain hurts

Got to play @vucasimulations.bsky.social 's Crossing the Line: Aachen 1944 with @nwinches.bsky.social this weekend and I was really impressed with the game. The systems are really engaging for activation and combat. I'm looking forward to trying it again.

Good weekend of gaming with @nwinches.bsky.social - played South Pacific, Fighting Formations (original), and now playing Crossing the Line: Aachen 1944
lots of hexes and counter :D
26.10.2025 03:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I don't think I actually roll that often for Tru'ng (Gandhi a bit, but its been a while). I don't think RDR had a ton of random location stuff (for the storms yes, but that's ALWAYS true).
The charts get pretty specific, so until you are used to them, it'd be slow. But again - do what's fun.
22.10.2025 20:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
that being said, the CARD bots are much less predictable overall I think (and again, if you like playing a certain way (such as choosing the "smarter" choice) just do that - just don't complain if the results are weird :D ).
22.10.2025 19:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I only ever did the CL flowchart bot. Its hard to say because the smaller decision space made it seem a lot easier to predict what the bot would do and where. The CARD bots have a preference chart on where to perform actions that are fairly reasonable, but not really random (thus predictable)
22.10.2025 19:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Higher ranked solo have a system/bot or were made for solo only. YOU like playing all sides. I prefer the unknown. There is no right answer of course (pineapple is fine on pizza)
22.10.2025 18:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
It's why publishers have a scale. C&C games are a 3 - its ok solo. You can use the CDG solo system, but part of the appeal of the game is NOT KNOWING what cards the other player has. Got all left flank cards over there? YG-IG games are just mid-rank because you can play them solo, but feints are meh
22.10.2025 18:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I think modern marketing has brandished solo because of demand. A lot of modern wargames are higher on a solo scale if its "you go, I go" style (ZocBond, Next War, etc), chit pull (or other system for adding random selection into the game) and so on. Hidden info games don't quite match up - TS, CC:E
22.10.2025 18:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
D-Day at Omaha Beach - amazing solo opponent
Card system for COIN - structured, but enough diversity to make it not perfectly predictable
Space Corp - bot is "random" but also feels like an opponent (and is dead simple to execute)
22.10.2025 18:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
It depends. What I don't like are solo systems/games where you are solving an efficiency puzzle (get 100 points to be an amateur, 200+ to be a pro). I PREFER a solo game or system where there is a bot/AI which feels like an opponent and I can't predict their moves (thus I don't like playing myself)

7 PoG games:
1st (short, rules learning)
2nd longer, we had no clue what we were in for.
3-7 RtT - lots of lessons learned, feel stuck. Starting to watch other games and what they are doing.
Learned: RtT's "dice" are just as mean to other players as they are to us. They hate everyone

Yep, this series has been good so far. I'm liking: fantasy world where we didn't spend 300 pages world building first. Crime/mystery with a Sherlock-like character, but embedded in said fantasy world. The followup book has also been excellent thus far

Yup. I KNEW there was no way it'd fit. I'm not unhappy. I had planned ahead and had a box. If they had a bigger box and they all ripped out, there'd be pictures of that everywhere with people crying. Box lift? phhfffffbbbt. That happens to war gamers all the time.

GOP gets it - they'd just rather give the money to the oligarchs than to health care. MAGA hates it because they were told to hate it, even though they need it and it makes their lives better.
15.10.2025 17:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
And again, I'm ok with another box - there are what? Six battle packs? That's a lot of extra stuff too - 2-3 maps each time add up fast.
15.10.2025 16:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
I've heard the bigger box from Pacific War didn't do so well. Regardless, a 3" box was never going to be big enough. There are 1" of manuals, player aids, maps (paper) to start with. Then 6 decks of cards (even unsleeved they take up a lot of space). Its just not reasonable that it'd fit once sorted
15.10.2025 16:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
I think 1/4β or so lift with sleeved cards (in bags) and those trays. I surrendered and decided on a second box. I made a label for an extra 3β GMT box. Paper in one, cards and trays in the other. Plenty of room for the expansions

Introduce yourself using a food you refuse to eat, a film youβll never watch again, a song you canβt stand
1. Lots of choices, but stinky food - cheese, durian, etc. NOPE
2. Burn After Reading - not funny, none of the characters had an ounce of redeeming qualities.
3. Clapton's Wonderful Tonight
