Hi folks, I've finally set up a Bluesky account properly linked to my own domain, so please follow me there, instead of here, for all things #botany, #science, #education and #technology! Thanks! New account is @jondrori.co.uk
(I have a new book coming out - more on that over there)

Thanks so much Peter! I had come across this one but sadly, it only deals with the Neotropics. I don't have the confidence to extrapolate to India and to Piper nigrum. All this for a kids' book. I hope they appreciate the effort that goes into accuracy! Thank you again. Jon

Thanks again! Not sure I totally trust this source. I can't find anything in the scientific literature. I've sorted to a couple of botanic gardens in India. Will post here if I get a response. Thanks, Jon

Thanks Peter! Yes, wondering about specific animals that might disperse the seeds in India.

Thank you. Yes I wanted to know if there's a particular kind of animal that's mostly responsible. Eg. Bats or birds? The wee fruits turn red, so I was thinking birds, but if love to know for sure.

Dear #botany folks... Any idea what disperses the seeds of black pepper (Piper nigrum) in the wild in India (where it originated)? Bats? Birds? Just scattered? I've tried all usual sources and can only find the odd paper about S. America. Xx jon
