Good question. I believe MTC and Caltrans may have to apply for another state or federal competitive grant for that funding, so they should release an updated funding plan

There are still a few outstanding environmental impacts under review, and it's not fully funded yet as far as I know (bc it requires such an insane sum of $$ to build).

Worth noting that SR 37 is the commute route for about 20k people daily. In a region of 7M is that the best use of $500m to save a few mins for a few years before congestion returns? While transit systems that carry many more may cut service...

Yep, it's exhausting. I've heard every justification for why 'this project' is special and unique - for the hundreds of widening projects still marching forward.

Real climate leaders don't widen highways.
