"Learning is relational and cultural, not just transactional."
This week @jadegarratt.bsky.social describes how we believe true learning is relational, cultural, and anchored in psychological safety.

βItβs not perfect β but at least it starts a conversation.β
I used to buy that. But Iβm disillusioned by how often it justifies tools we know are flawed (MBTI and dead-end engagement surveys, Iβm looking at you).
What if, instead of bending around bad tools, we asked better questions?
We believe that witnessing brings protection. The more eyes on this mission, the safer they are. By tuning in, you're not just watchingβyouβre standing in solidarity.

β People tell you what they really think
β They have better ideas than you

Worth it? Absolutely.

"Itβs not the rupture that defines a relationship, but how we repair it."
This week @jadegarratt.bsky.social explores how psychological safety isn't linear, and in fact, the process of repair and rebuilding can help make our relationships stronger than before.

How safe people feel when sharing feedback or co-creating solutions is pivotal to the success of any participatory process. We generally only engage to the degree that we feel safe to.

Iβm beginning to think that the people who claimed to care deeply about academic liberty & freedom of speech on college campuses may not have been entirely honest.

What if psychological safety starts when things get uncomfortable?
Often the real learning begins when we hear something weβd rather not.
As Lars Axelsson said: βA problem that stays with whoever discovers it, is a problem that remains unknown.β
How can we stay curious, even when itβs hard?
An "I'm ok, you're ok" quadrant, where only the square representing the health I',m ok, you're ok state is green. The rest are red.
The βIβm ok, youβre okβ model reminds us that, even in disagreement, we can stay grounded in respect.
Too often, when challenged, we:
β¬οΈ Push the other person down(βTheyβre wrongβ), or
β¬οΈ Push ourselves down (βIβve messed upβ).
Neither helps.
"I'm ok, you're ok," can keep us steady in discomfort.
"Thereβs a risk with organisations that we trim them so much to the bone, making them so ruthlessly efficient and lean, and so highly tuned to our current economic and consumer state that weβre vulnerable to a catastrophic failure that we simply didnβt see coming."
psychsafety.com/efficiency-v...
"Too often, we treat feedback as factual reporting, but even when we're trying to be as 'honest' as possible, the feedback we choose to give will always be filtered through our personal lenses."
