My father & I don’t see eye on almost anything. Fuck, I’ve probably posted this exact phrase before, one sec…yep! More than a year ago! No changes detected.

For me, icebreaker activities really heighten anxiety. Trying to think of an interesting fact about myself while wondering what others might find interesting, trying to remember what someone has told me to repeat back to the rest of the group…usually I just want to run away and hide.

That being said, the idea of "sequence Hitler's DNA to learn more about him" is incredibly lurid and crass. We already know an extraordinary amount about him (plenty of historians would say TOO MUCH) and none of this is exculpatory for what he did. It's a curiosity at best, clickbait at worst.

Yeah, a lot of people don’t get it. I went to law school instead of getting a PhD right after college because that’s how Dad raised me: “You can fuck around & study mythology in college, but you need a real job after that.” It took a few brutal years as a lawyer to totally break the programming.

(I know he’s not actually confused, he just doesn’t understand the point of learning dead languages. Or getting a PhD. Or being a professor. But how many times does he need to ask in order to make that point? Does he not remember asking in the past?)

Thanks. I’ve accepted that my right leg is probably going to crap out on me in old age & limit my mobility. At this point, I’ve beaten it up too badly for it to ever fully heal. But it’s definitely a lot better than last week! And better than I’d feared.

He’s asked this many times. He asked it when I learned ancient Greek in college. He asked it when I taught myself Biblical Hebrew. And he’s apparently still confused 😵‍💫

Yeah, our healthcare here is actually terrible. And I was at one of the biggest hospitals in Los Angeles. “Xray shows no broken bones. Here’s a knee brace & crutches. If it still hurts in a week, call an orthopedic surgeon.”

Yep, those are the two missable ones! And I somehow still know that!

FFTA was one of my greatest hyperfixations as a kid, & I was super completionist about it. I caught every monster for the morpher & maxed their stats, & got all the blue mage spells including the annoying missable ones lullll. Bc it’s not 100% without goblin punch 😂

Maybe as an Autistic, I just have to come to the terms that I will never be understood

But maybe I just have to learn to accept myself as I am & be unapologetically me in spite of the mistreatment that I will inevitably face. It cant be helped but at least if no one else will, I can be soft with me

I went to the ER. They did xrays. ER can’t do MRIs. It’s getting better now, so I’m not going back to the doctor.

Leg update for anyone keeping track: It stopped hurting so much, & I stopped using crutches! The healing is VERY itchy though! I think I tore every muscle in my calf, plus something more important in my knee.

Last time we had a plumber, I literally curled up in a fetal position on the floor of my room, in a corner. I don’t like strangers in my home.

Being in a perpetual state of autistic burnout is crazy because if you handle it too well, everyone perceives you as being totally fine and it gets much harder to advocate for accommodations or explain why it's not feasible to regularly repeat an activity you managed to just barely tolerate once.

To YOU small talk may seem easy and low-risk.

For me, I understand it to be how people gain an impression of me when they don’t know me well, and therefore it feels like EXTREME high risk.

Autistic people need two types of accommodations:

Type #1: Ear defenders, quiet workstations, note taking apps

Type #2: Decolonized workplaces, justice for all, truly sustainable work

Employers freak out about #1 and never even see #2 coming.
