Tomasino is doing an excellent job of disrupting the opposition’s breakout.

Taking smart angles to eliminate space and getting his stick on the puck with regularity.

I didn’t have a problem with the signing (competent vet at $900K) but he basically missed an entire year and is now blocking deserving players from the lineup so that he can skate up and down the ice for 10 mins a game.

How much longer are the Penguins going to do the whole "you battled back from a significant injury so we feel obligated to put you in the lineup even though you shouldn't be" thing with Matt Nieto?

Four of the Penguins’ defensemen have had a complete bozo moment already and somehow Erik Karlsson is not one of them. This game is going to get sloppy.

This is not a massive move, but Tomasino is the kind of player (assuming he can reach his potential) that could be a contributor in their next contention window.

I am a big fan of Philip Tomasino’s game. 23 years old. Right-shot center.

Haven’t watched his NSH tape from this season to see why the production isn’t there, but I like this trade a lot for the Penguins. No-brainer at that cost of acquisition.

I’m all for the Penguins bottoming out at this point to secure a premium draft pick. The potential problem with leaning into that too much is becoming Anaheim.
