The guy spend a chunk of his childhood in an internment camp because our government thought he might be dangerous because he was of Japanese descent. He was also gay when you were forced to hide it. It’s been much worse for a lot of people in our history. George knows what he’s talking about.

Someone suggested, not unkindly, that I need to get more serious in my postings here. More political.

Our family has been immersed in the serious & political. This has been a month like no other for us. I’m nesting, briefly, as we prepare for the challenging year ahead. Expect more pet photos.

The tax fight next year is going to be an absolute barn burner and it gives our side a perfect opportunity for moral and strategic clarity. They want to raise the price of stuff you buy and use your money to give more to corporations. Let’s keep it simple and let’s fight, after the holidays.

PSA: if you bought a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving, today is the last day you can start to thaw it in the fridge. You need 24 hours of thawing for every 4-5 pounds of meat. Remember to put your turkey in the fridge!

(Yes, I'm sure your organic fresh turkey or your not-turkey meat is delicious.)

Lesson Number One:

one of the things i like most about bluesky so far is being able to log in and find good things to read, and share good things I'm reading with others. such a basic, simple strength of twitter that had been decimated

Where there is darkness there is light, where there is ignorance there is enlightenment, and where there is fear there is bravery. Things are never so bad they can’t get worse and they are never so bleak you should surrender.

Can we agree not to forget the fact that Trump is a depraved sociopath, a convicted felon, an adjudicated rapist, an election denier who incited a violent insurrection to illegally hold onto power after losing in 2020, and now he’s after fascist rule and the demise of democracy—i.e., not normal?
