It's been obvious for years that, apart from a handful of congressional districts, "Republican-lite" picks up a trivial number of swing voters while depressing base turnout, resulting in a net loss.

Problem is, the most influential people in our party prefer a loss to a win by anyone to their left.

This is what a counter narrative to the anti immigrant sea we are swimming in looks like.
