I'm still on the "making the game out of colored squares" stage, but working on creature design in the meantime has been making the process more fun. they're not going into the game for a while, I want all systems to be up and running first, so I won't animate them just yet, as much as I'd like to

In the center, a baby creature. There are arrows pointing to three evolved stages, which themselves in turn point to three others, with two final forms being shared between each second stage for a total of ten creatures and six final forms.

alright, here's some early design stuff. none of it is final at this stage and I'm especially going back and forth on how I want to handle colors for the project as a whole.

that said, enjoy my first attempt at a critter evolution line!

quick question, no wrong answers: do you prefer it when the gamedev people you follow share only relatively polished previews, or do you actively want to see the early steps of a project and its many iterations?

not to sound all hipster but I never went to spotify in the first place. I've had my music library since 2010 and the thought of "what if I needed an internet connection and occasional ads to listen to music" never appealed to me for some reason.
