There’s a medication I’ve been told to try but it’s not available on the NHS. I have to pay Β£50 for a consultation and Β£30 for the meds.

I shouldn’t have bought Lily Allen tickets 😭 why is being disabled so EXPENSIVE.

Just found out my DnD character is the chosen one, destined to either save or destroy his dying people.

This is a LOT more epic than I was expecting. All I said was that he didn’t know why his parents moved to a remote island and were quiet about their past. Then left it to the DM.

I’m SO excited!

Ahh Hachette sent me Eternal Ruin, the follow up to Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma!

I LOVED book 1 - a Black woman enrolls in a university for humans and vampires to find out what happened to her missing sister, but has to cohabit with her number one suspect, a vampire

Can’t wait to read this πŸ“šπŸ’™ πŸ“šπŸ€Ž

I’m finally going to Mighty Hoopla!

Just spent an hour online with my mate trying to get them. She got through thankfully. Every ticket experience seems to be a tense, exciting race these days.

Home from an incredible weekend with beloved friends.

I am an absolute mess and will be in bed for a few days but it was worth it πŸ’œ

I love that I can state what I need to be safe/comfortable and my friends don’t bat an eye, just take care of me. I’m so lucky.

There’s something truly special about friendships that have lasted from your hectic booze-filled 20s, to your sober, nostalgic 30s.

I’ve had as much fun screaming and dancing around a living room to 2000s pop hits tonight as I did when we were techno clubbing till dawn 15 years ago.

Existence rebellion
A joy-full manifesto for the marginalised.

Hatred is everywhere, and it’s getting bolder. This hate isn’t novel, it’s just losing its shame.

So life is hard on the margins. This we know, it’s not new. Not to me. Not to you.

And because it’s not new, we have learned to survive. We carve out communities, families and friends. We dig in, batton down, we make our safe havens and fight for our lives.

But we must remember what we’re striving for. Amidst all the fear and the preparations and the practical considerations.

We must remember to live.

We must remember to be a beacon of hope for ourselves, to shove aside the shadow of white hetero hatred. To dance and thrive while the people in ivory towers spew their legislative lies.

We must remember to have a ball, right until the end. That is the secret. This is how we win. When society spurns us, we sing all the louder. When the haters rise up, we fling our joy in their faces. Claw our happiness from their gnarled crony fingers and paint the town rainbows.

They hate to see us happy, so happy we must be.

It’s hard, of course it is. This life is a balance, of dissonance, resistance, and defiant, desperate joy. This is how movements are sustained. Yes, there are the angry days. The what-the-fuck-is-happening days. The hide-under-the-duvet days. The take-to-the-streets, scream-and-chant days.

But we need the good days too.

If we want to do more than survive, we must make our lives good. To gorge ourselves happy on the things they forbid.

Demand access to the table of plenty. They don’t want you to marry? Get fucking married. They don’t want you in their spaces? Turn up and party. They’re policing your gender? Put on the garment and take pictures of yourself looking hot/handsome/pretty. Hold onto that moment of perfection, when you are you in your glory. Even in secret. That moment is yours.

Hold onto life and then live it, as hard as you can. Be Black. Be brown. Be He, be She, be They, be all of the above. Unmask, take up space, be β€˜weird’, get in the way. Heal the hurt of the bad days with memories of the good. No one can take those away.

We must remember, we are the descendents of strong, defiant ancestors. Disabled and neurodivergent. Queer and trans. Black and brown. We stand on the shoulders of proud, fearless elders, who stuck it out for a future that was better than the past. They fought for us, tooth and nail.
And We’re. Still. Here.

So even if it’s in secret, hidden in your room, typing on a keyboard, scribbling in a sketchbook, just… live. Live brightly. Live happily, if only for a moment. Do everything you can to make the good days beat the bad. It is possible, it can be done. By you, by me, by everyone.

Our very existence is beautiful, an act of rebellion. Joyful and delicious. We are gifts, we are precious. We deserve to be fought for.

Live brightly. Live happily.

Just… live.

I’ve been published in a zine!

The piece is called β€œExistence Rebellion: A Joy-Full Manifesto for the Marginalised”
All about finding joy, and spitting it the face of those who try to bring us down.

The last line is cut off, but reads: β€œlive brightly. Live happily. Just live.”

A selfie of Vivian, a middle-aged white trans woman, done up in a lightly gothy fashion while sitting under magenta lighting. She is holding up a hardback copy of her book Shadows Over Ravenkirk 1: The Last Will And Testament Of Wilhelmina Bruttenholm. The cover depicts a goth woman in a black and purple dress looks on in shock as a large black tarantula crawls across a stone shelf. Behind her, mist rises, obscuring the houses in the background. A full moon hangs just above her head.

Learn about semiotics and storytelling from the author of Tradwife!

This is such a great concept, love it.
Semiotics is a brilliant tool for understanding how culture is changing. It makes so much sense to apply it to storytelling, to keep the writing culturally relevant & exciting!

I’m sadly not going to any bonfire events but I’ll be happily watching fireworks from my window.
