It seems bizarre to try and square the desires of evangelicalism and MAGA and fascism and all those related sects, but the key to doing it is to finally wrap your head around the fact that their purposes are inherently self-destructive because they are, and this isn’t exaggeration, death cults.

This woman, US citizen living in Skokie, was detained at Ohare yesterday, taken to Broadview, then transferred to a detention facility in Wisconsin, now released. We know all this not because of DHS, who repeatedly denied that they even had her, but because her phone was pinging in those locations.

Roadside white supremacist onlookers were eager for violence, including audible calls for murder. I included a Nazi salute in my rendering of the scene for MARCH because the American Nazi Party was present as counter-protestors & hecklers on multiple occasions during the Selma movement.

All of these organized protests were in service of guaranteeing and protecting voting rights for Black Americans— and through this, protecting the voices of all of us through the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, then gutted by the Supreme Court in 2013.
