Finishing things up today in preparation for the Brisbane Illustration Fair this weekend. Folding new mini zines and playing with my table set up. I have decided against this table cover. I like it but it’s too busy.

I’m really enjoying playing with coloured pencils in my sketchbook.

Everyone likes to complain their engagement is down on social media. But how often do you actually engage with others posts and artworks? Im making an effort to comment again. Because that’s what we used to do.

Tbh I’ve never really thought of the TAB as a retail outlet. I’ve always kind of thought of it more as an extension of a pub like the pokies.

Cash converters can be pretty depressing too. It’s like where dreams go to die.

Ok it’s done! A cyborg spider monster. I could just keep working on it but I’m tired of that now so it’s done. Ha that’s how art works right?

The problem with work is getting all inspired to create but then I’m at work I can’t and by the time I get home there’s other stuff that has to be done and I’m just too tired.

Submissions are open now and until March 2nd. Submit your illustrations, comics, stories, poetry, collages, whatever you feel fits the theme and can be printed in colour in an a5 sized zine. Please send files as a 300 dpi jpg or pdf in cmyk colours to petatronart@gmail.com

Fiction should be no more than 1000 words. Comics and any rpg stats/settings etc should be limited to two a5 pages.

Only one submission per person and no ai art at all (but hey if you want to make something based around the horrors of ai go for it!)

What does science fiction mean to you?

Is it deep space adventures? Rockets flying through the Milky Way or aliens visiting from distant planets?

Is it mad scientists splicing genetic material to create new horrors? Are they building robots from the scrap cord box that you never throw out?

I told my work if they didn’t increase my hours I may have to move away from Melbourne and I got my roster today and it’s just more of the same. It’s hard to care when they don’t care to keep me.
