If buying a membership is all that’s needed to be eligible *and* no denying care based on preexisting conditions is retained, then the risk pool shouldn’t skew too hard toward healthier folks (yes, a membership fee is a barrier; it could be subsidized though that’d be weird; just do single payer!)

He also ignores that it would basically be COBRA; Costco has no reason or incentive to pay part of our premiums the way employers do. And COBRA is *ridiculously* expensive.

I suspect he thinks individuals could qualify as groups and get a group plan. The membership org could negotiate lower premiums/richer plans than would be available on the market to individuals (who have no negotiating power). This wouldn’t *solve* anything, but it sounds good in a capitalist way.

I’m really sorry that all of you went through that and are continuing to struggle. While anti-depressants can relieve depression to the point that someone with suicidal ideation is able to act on that, unmedicated anxiety and/or depression can also be extremely debilitating.
