Climate action was notably absent from EU leaders’ conclusions at the Alden Biesen retreat this week - yet there is no #competitiveness without #decarbonisation.

➡️ It is now up to #EU Member States to approve the provisional agreement.

The focus then shifts to designing a science-based post-2030 #climate framework to deliver the 90%.

Staying the course means backing that number up by:
🔹Restoring & strengthening EU land sinks
🔹Using high-quality international credits sparingly
🔹Giving permanent carbon removals a clear & limited role

❗ We’ve almost got a binding #climatetarget, but numbers alone won’t get us there.

The @europarl.europa.eu's plenary vote confirms a binding 90% EU climate target for 2040, a crucial step to stay on track for #climateneutrality.
