To be fair, we are also part of a group of people who spend their time researching stuff that happened hundreds of years ago, so 35 years is pretty damned new!

The Ig Nobel is incredible , one year an Indian guy won it for calculating the average surface area of an elephant and during his acceptance they had an elephant hold up a sign with the surface area of the scientist on it, they do showbiz better than the Oscars

It might be tempting to do some compromising ‘both sides’ work by saying yes to the suggestion that the pools are ‘biological’ at certain times, or that there are segregated bathrooms. Don’t. Don’t give *any* credence to the idea that trans people are inherently threatening or dangerous.

"It is important to analyze these transformations through contingency, creativity, choice, and myopia. That kind of subjectivity—the striving for a future, the inability to see that future—is the crux of the historical question."

Would appreciate any opportunity to put my thinking into dialogue with fellow scholars! Am also available to speak on podcasts and other media about my work, which covers gender, embodiment, mobility & exercise in relation to early modern drama, but also the contemporary resonances of these topics.

"The cool, dry air of the cave preserved the shoe perfectly. There it stayed, tucked among branches, as generations of vultures carefully maintained the nesting site."

Extraordinary - I also didn't know that vulture nests are basically permanent structures that pass from one generation to the next!
