Following from my last post, I thought I should share the subject of the talks that have made me animated! I would also like to thank @swwdtp.bsky.social for all their support during my last couple of presentations!

Anyway, I still have at least 4 talks planned for the rest of the academic year so maybe see some of you there!

Secondly, whilst my presenting mode may be animated, my listening state is a lot more... reserved. I want the record to show I am thinking about questions and trying to take in what is being said and I am most definitely not bored!

First of all, I speak with my hands A LOT! I get so engrossed in my work that I find it hard stand still and follow a script which did lead to a rather comedic throwing of my script on Saturday!

I have been travelling around the UK (and Europe) recently speaking about my research. A couple of observations have been made regarding me...

What an incredible couple of days! It was a real pleasure to host such amazing speakers on a wide variety of topics relating to conflict and violence in the early modern period 🗡️

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the results of these past few months of effort. Thank you to all speakers and attendees (both in person and online), my co-organisers @dylanneill.bsky.social, @swwdtp.bsky.social, and everyone that shared and engaged with this project along the way!

Day two of the conference complete! With some excellent panels and speakers, day two was completely filled with some amazing papers on Privateering, Methodology, Naval Violence, Representations of Violence on the Stage, and England's relations with her Neighbours in the Late Seventeenth Century.

Day one complete of the Conflict, War and Violence in the Early Modern World conference! Had some very insightful talks covering a variety of topics! The day finished with a fantastic talk from Professor Mark Stoyle followed by a walking tour of the city walls! I look forward to tomorrow!
