its only right there's a winter storm during frostys. keeps everyone on their toes

fuck man. its just so deeply infuriating that amount of "companies" that have quietly capitulated to fascism, to human rights abuses, to deep and enduring harm simply because it is easier and more profitable than having morals.
choosing to care is a thankless, lifelong battle. but do it anyway

i find the phrase "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" to be so deeply frustrating not because it isn't true but because it gets used as an excuse to not try. to embrace nihilism.
allowing evil and the harm it causes to persist simply because it is easier is unacceptable.

insane that amount of effort and time it takes to make conscientious choices and not support people/companies/systems that are perpetuating harm. that it is everywhere.

additionally insane to accept that failure is inevitable but it is critically important to continue to try anyway.

the center bar in the lid is ugly but its a necessary evil. aka it helps distribute weight and adds support so that I can use this as a chair and not worry about anything collapsing.
the bottom also has a ton of additional support and reinforcement but it gets hidden by the "treasure"

changed my mind for the more cartoonish option.

double herringbone stitch with a woven wheel on top. the herringbone would be whitework and get me close to the texture im looking for since doing pulled thread techniques is really fabric dependent and i could not get it to work consistently enough

samples of various test stitches and sketches that all weren't quite right

weird little technique involving tiny, evenly spaced stitches and then weaving the thread through the holes like a vine. doing it as at the right size gets me a real cool, almost scalloped border I think works well

anyway I have been doing some testing as a nice, consuming activity and feel like im finally getting close to right

I've always cared most about making sure my costumes looked best irl instead of in photos or whatever. and to hear acknowledgement of that unprompted just really hit me. all the effort I put into small details throughout the costume making process up to and including makeup and styling day of? just makes me happy and excited to continue to grow and improve and make weird things.

I was bad at taking pics at MAG (per usual) but also spent most of my time with friends which was amazing.
also felt great to cosplay my silly niche stuff 3 days in a row and still get regular, shocked "omg, are you ___???" from both friends and strangers.
