Good news! With all the time youβre going to save this week from not having to call your councillor about the charter-free zone, you can call them about this instead!

19.02.2026 04:39 β π 17 π 6 π¬ 3 π 1Reminder that yesterday Councillor Ross Eadie said that there was NO power within Canada to effect foreign conflicts, thus making protests in support of Palestine pointless. We deserve leaders who aren't apathetic and have an actual vision for the future.

"The housing crisis is not a crisis of supply; it is a crisis of distribution."
Housing inflation has boosted the wealth of private landlords, while rising prices have put ownership out of reach for many, put new buyers deeply in debt, all while driving up homelessness. tinyurl.com/42sc7vvb
Working on it!!
18.02.2026 17:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Over 40 organizations came together to protest this bylaw, including over 100 delegates signed up to opposite and 2000 written submissions. Amazing work Winnipeg π Lets carry that energy into the 2026 Municipal Election
18.02.2026 17:42 β π 12 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0I went to a rally this morning at city hall to protect our right to protest. City hall is 900 metres from my home. I had to take a taxi there because our sidewalks are impassable in winter in our so called βhuman rights city.β I tried to roll home but got stuck several times and had to ask for help.
17.02.2026 18:31 β π 26 π 11 π¬ 2 π 0Friend is at City Hall right now, where security told them to remove their jacket because a patch that says "we carry another world in our hearts" is "propaganda."
17.02.2026 16:10 β π 18 π 10 π¬ 1 π 0Tami Gadir - resident of Osborne Village and professor. Told she couldnβt wear Jews for Palestinian Liberation shirt and was asked to remove it. Asks whether it would have been considered inflammatory if she wore a Jews for Ukrainian Liberation shirt.

At city hall this morning. They wonβt let me take pictures inside today. So this is the rally before I walked in.

13.02.2026 20:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Graphic with text reading: What is it? The Safe Access to Vulnerable Infrastructure By-law would set 100 meter buffer zones on how close "nuisance" demonstrations can be to certain types of buildings including places of worship, public and independent schools, post-secondary institutions, healthcare facilities, cementaries, childcare centres, and other designated facilities. Fines range from $500-$5000 per individual. Bottom of graphic shows a map to illustration the amount of space blocked by the proposed bylaw. 78.3 square km of the City of Winnipeg would be restricted.
Graphic with text that reads: "Why is this important?" - Nuisance Protest is non-specific, meaning any and all public protests, marches, round dances & other gatherinsg could be subject. - There are already anti-hate laws and a 50 meter buffer zone set by the Province for Reproductive Healthcare Facilities - Areas restricted by this by-law are public spaces and points of proximity to decision makers. City Hall, University Campuses, Wab Kinew's Office, etc. - Fines of up to $5000 could be issued to every person who shows up to Round Dances, rallies, group bike rides, marches, etc. - The language of the by-law extends to any protests in these exclusion zones that use amplified sound or block traffic. - Police will have new tools they will use to silence and punish protesters - This will almost certainly be racist in implementation.
A graphic with text that reads: "How to Help" - Show up for a rally at City Hall on Tuesday, Feb 17 @ 8:45 AM before EPC puts the by-law to a voite - Register as a delegate to speak to EPC on Tuesday, or submit written delegations by TOMORROW, Friday 13 @ Noon - Check out @wpgsouthcentre4justice on instagram who have shared instructions and a template for written delegations - Speak to your union, community, and religious leaders about your concerns and urge them to submit comments or register to delegate

#1 was a huge fucking flat bed truck leaving a parking lot, luckily I was paying attention to him because he literally would have killed me
#2 was a SUV crossing Inkster Blvd with no light, who decided that their ability to make the manuver was more important than human life
Went on two walks today FOR MY HEALTH and almost got run over on BOTH. And BOTH times I waved my arms at the drivers but they were in their own worlds looking the opposite direction.
And yes I was on the sidewalk with the right of way both times.
Marcus Chambers appears to be suit shopping while a council meeting is in progress.

Trash collectors smashed our bin and now they won't pick up our garbage. Whatever, it happens. But its been almost a month and we haven't received our replacement yet.
I'm just glad its winter while we hoard garbage on the porch.

30.01.2025 20:53 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0because thats what the community wants, and what the province wants. Ross is singlehandedly fighting for a bridge we can't afford, while telling the community that the opportunity for something new and innovative (AND BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT) is just a "pipe dream"
29.01.2025 20:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0should note: no money has been put toward building a new bridge, just tearing the current one down. If our city has shown us anything with the P&M reopening, its that the bridge will come down... we will wait 5 more years, and then the city will begrudingly look into rail relocation
