But it's real. Students bring a ton of anxiety around statistics and the math behind it into the courses. And our training infrastructure sucks.

This paper is a really nice overview of the challenges we face in statistics education.

Spent some time today playing around with the #Rstats package orchaRd 2.0

It offers a really nice way of visualizing #metaanalysis, especially moderator meta-regression models (with both categorical & continuous moderators!) #dataviz

In intro grad class, I still (yes) have students read Baron & Kenny(1986)

Make sure all get mediation vs moderation

But it's awfully dated, especially statistically. (Sobels; tested in sep regressions)

Recommendation for new Masters students to read & discuss in class?

Anyway, I really feel like the whole environment, including the state of the published literature, is really colluding against students learning how to do proper research. That’s a shame; I always have the impression our students really do want to learn how to do things the right way.
