Assuming you're talking about growled vocals? What really helped me all those years ago as a babby metal fan was training myself to think of the vocals as another instrument rather than their typical use as conveyors of lyrics. Now it's clean vocals I have more trouble with by far!

I had this with Ghost (although I did later learn to love them). Clean vocals are usually a huge demerit for me and have to be exceptional to work. Like, get as good as Blind Guardian or don't bother.

If their lyrical subject matters were the absolute horrors of the Iraq war and the senseless and completely evil mass murder of civilians, I could give them a bit of credit. But I don't think that's the case? It comes across as callous glorification instead.

I have always found their name absolutely off-putting and upsetting.

Imagine you have two machines. One you can open up and examine all of its workings, and if you give it every picture of a cat on the whole internet, it can reliably distinguish cats trom non-cats. The other is a black box and it can also reliably distinguish cats from non-cats if you give it half a dozen pictures of cats, some apple sauce, and a hug. These machines sort of do the same thing, but even without knowing how the second one works 1 am extremely confident in saying it doesn't work the same way as the first one.
