This shit is gonna happen globally now. There are a ton of reasons why digital rights activists were always dead set against enforcing real ID for using the internet.

Realized I’ve started to be chronically ill in my dreams. I never used to be. Feels like a sad watershed moment. But it made me reflect on another moment like that: the last time I felt angry at my body. I haven’t felt that in foreverβ€”just loving, protective, & sorry I didn’t treat her better sooner

I imagine this happens with most disabilities but ME in particular has been so erased by the medical system, the government, insurance companies, the media, so that every single horrific way it devastates our lives can be neatly explained away as our own fault & a personality flaw

A lot of the medical establishment is eugenics (this treatment works for good patients; You must have a mental illness that u WANT to be sick!) A lot of the anti-medical establishment is eugenics (if u have a β€œstrong” immune system u dont need vaccines).

Its all eugenics. Hope that clears it up!

And disability justice never took root in America because the sick see themselves not as disabled but (as @katieklocksin.bsky.social has put it) as temporarily embarrassed healthy people

New Medicaid work requirements will take effect at the end of 2026 - it will FAIL sick people and cut off their care.
Tell HHS to recognize people with #MECFS and #LongCOVID as β€œmedically frail” so our access to Medicaid is protected.

I can’t emphasize enough that we have essentially no chemical regulation in the US. Of the 40,000+ chemicals in commerce, most have never been tested, many are certainly dangerous, but only a handful have been banned. Asbestos is on that tiny list, but guess what? It wasn’t fully banned until 2024

ICE Nativity scenes: Churches reimagine Christmas story amid deportations (RNS) β€”Β 'We know that Jesus was born into a Roman imperial occupation, and pretty much immediately becomes a refugee in Egypt, has to flee and faces political violence,' the Rev. Michael Woolf said.

In Chicago, a Nativity scene features a zip-tied baby Jesus and Roman centurions in "ICE" vests.

Near Boston, Mary, Joseph, and Jesus are absent from a Nativity scene, replaced with a sign reading "ICE was here."

It's all part of growing religious blowback to ICE. religionnews.com/2025/12/05/i...

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from OkjΓΆkull to Ok (jΓΆkull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Here we are 3 decades later & I’d argue the treatment got even worse/more entrenched in the years since

She mentions that her editor, who also worked on Randy Shilts’s acclaimed book β€œAnd The Band Played On” (so he knew all about both epidemics in the 80s/90s), said this, comparing ME patients to AIDS patients:

β€œI never thought I would say this, but the government treated these patients worse.”

@chromatowski.bsky.social has suggested a patient union for things like this. In the meantime we can spread the word & protect each other. Trials like these can cause real harm to participants but they also prop up an ideology that should have been put to rest long ago. Let’s not feed the zombies! 🧟

Anyway, just thinking about how even a psychological drama/fever dream-esque film explicitly crafted to be TOO MUCH couldn’t hold everything real women are holding without completely collapsing, so if you’re a mother barely holding it together πŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ήβ€οΈβ€πŸ©Ήβ€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

I watched If I Had Legs I’d Kick You & I think it was technically a good movie but ugh I already know being a mother in America is hell & being a mother to a sick child is like the 9th circle of hell & then I think of all the mothers with sick kids who are also sick themselves & 😱

I had to give a full medical history for a research study recently & I realized I was mostly keeping track of the timeline by my memories of whichever male partner I was dating in each year getting angry at me for my health getting in the way of his good time 🫠
