Use Cursor, ask it to write a quick script to use census to get the data you want.

Yes, I'm just a big fan of "all of the above, as fast as possible" when it comes to clean energy deployment! At the very least we should keep Diablo Canyon open.

The US' older nuclear plants were not designed for load-following but newer designs can do a better job. France and Ontario do just fine with 60%+ of their energy coming from nuclear. Regulatory reform can address costs, and we will need lots more power for electrification (and AI) anyways.

Ironically I think many of the people who had reasonable objections to DEI were objecting precisely because it promoted uniformity in thinking, exclusion, and equal outcomes over (merit-based) equity.

Looking at California too.

Would need to be a state law, cities don't have the authority to do that.

ADEM 2025

These slate members are all solidly pro-housing and pro-climate, and we also want to ground our progressive ideals in what’s realistically achievable.

If you’d like to see a pragmatic, results-focused Democratic Party - request a ballot now! ademelections.com/register/mail

I’m proud to be running with a slate of 12 other incredible candidates from AD18 (Oakland/Emeryville/Alameda). If you live in Berkeley or AD14 (Piedmont & N. Oakland up to Hercules), there’s a terrific slate in that district as well! (See the second graphic above).

I’m running for office again! This time, I’m running for a seat in the California Democratic Party.

This election is happening right now. In order to vote, you need to request a ballot before January 31st - link in bio.

Sure, but… that's not the same as waving. I do think intent matters, and there's plenty of other things with actual bad intent to be upset about.

Immigrants’ Resentment Over New Arrivals Helped Boost Trump’s Popularity With Latino Voters Across the U.S., Latino immigrants who’ve been in the country a long time felt that asylum-seekers got preferential treatment. β€œThose of us who have been here for years get nothing,” said one woman fr...

I don't think even I would dispute the fact that the US had a surge in asylum seekers and the Biden admin eventually cracked down on it. My point is that Biden's belated crackdown on asylum seekers was too little, too late for the people who feel like the American worker is being snubbed.

What the data says about immigrants in the U.S. In 2022, roughly 10.6 million immigrants living in the U.S. were born in Mexico, making up 23% of all U.S. immigrants.

Since we have more immigrants today (as a share of the population) than at anytime in the past 100 years, and 2023 was the largest increase in over 20 years, it seems reasonable to me that people might think this principle is no longer being met. www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...

28.12.2024 18:53 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

A conservative principle on immigration might be that America should put the needs of Americans ahead of people of any other country, and that immigration should only be allowed to the extent that it is necessary to meet American's needs.

28.12.2024 18:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Diego, I think allowing unlimited immigration would be insane and a mistake, just as I think stopping all immigration would be insane and a mistake. Once you're at the point where there should be some finite amount of immigration it's just a question of degree.

28.12.2024 18:50 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

No, I'm unfortunately thinking more about the support for Hamas and Luigi Mangione.

28.12.2024 18:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don't think that's going to help us win elections in the future.

We can chat casually over drinks or in the group text, but anything written down and published for the world to see should be considered as affecting the perspective and behavior of both the people who agree with us and those who don't.

28.12.2024 18:06 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I wish it didn't have to be taken seriously on social media, but I think the unfortunate reality - especially for an account with Darrell's reach - is that social media is real media and we should use the same care here as we would if talking to a reporter.

28.12.2024 18:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, I don't agree with them either and I also think they made a stupid decision. I would like us to stay focused on what we can do to show people that Democrats are the right choice going forward, and I think the shaming and name-calling might not be the best way to achieve that.

28.12.2024 17:53 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think it is very easy to understand that a Trump voter might have legitimate concerns about immigration, which Harris had some responsibility for; about inflation, which was much worse under Biden-Harris and to a degree his fault; about identity politics, which is why Harris was VP; and more.

28.12.2024 17:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh, I see. I think we should probably hold off on calling anyone a Nazi unless they're openly calling for Jews to be sent to death camps.

28.12.2024 17:21 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

I mean generally the only unifying motivation Trump supporters need is a preference for what they believe Trump will work towards over what they believed Harris would work towards. They can have a variety of policy preferences and valid reasons they believe things would be better under Trump.

28.12.2024 17:20 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Wish that were true, but I’ve seen a shocking degree of tolerance among progressives for Hamas, Hezbollah, antisemitism, & Luigi Mangione, along with intolerance for anyone who isn’t closely adhered to a specific ideological mold, regardless of whether the disagreements actually endanger tolerance.

28.12.2024 17:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m not super familiar with the dude in the screenshot.

My point was that β€œhating people” isn’t a conservative principle and is a problem on the left as well, and more broadly claiming that it is a conservative principle isn’t likely to win us any friends in an era when the left is losing.

28.12.2024 17:11 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 5    πŸ“Œ 0

β€œThe time for this guy to speak up was when his crowd was denigrating others, not when his group is turned on” - it’s going to cut both ways. Denigrating β€œconservative principles” as β€œhating people” won’t win you any allies.
