Some tidbits about the most recent 1,000 exoplanets:
- Nearly half (~490) were discovered with NASA's TESS mission
- As a result, their host stars are nearly *10 times brighter on average* than previous stars!
- We have found a lot more cool giant planets (Jupiter analogs), with RV and imaging

I hope this isn't vague-posting but like...man every day I become more and more convinced that i need to become a professor. Not because I want to but because people have to fight back/push back against some of these people dude.
Im not saying that people aren't. Im just saying we need more.

I've seen folks talk about how "in four years" they'll be able to get back to their planned projects and I really don't think that's going to work out. People & projects losing funding now will not be able to hit pause and come back once funding is restored. Hard-won progress & capacity will be lost

Trump Has Cut Science Funding to Its Lowest Level in Decades (Gift Article)
The lag in funding extends far beyond D.E.I. initiatives, affecting almost every area of science: chemistry, computing, engineering, materials and more.
NSF Physics was cut by 85%, basically wiping out most of its capacity for supporting research.
NSF Astronomy was cut by 53%
Undergrad education was cut by 71% and research on learning by 79%
Graduate education was cut by 100% to ZERO.

And that confirms what we thought! Which is awesome!
And it makes those systems with more irregularly spaced planets even more interesting! Especially with observations of Kepler-20 in 2016 and recent reanalysis of Kepler-139 data discovering additional planets!

We used real and synthetic planetary systems to determine how system-wide metrics change if we "miss" a planet. For real systems, we removed one planet at a time. For the synthetic systems, we applied the Kepler detection pipeline. Turns out, missing a planet really messes with the system's spacing!
