What's an effective/well managed charitable org to donate to help trans kids? Particularly getting them access to binders, care, etc. I need to use my donation matching still for the year.

Every person deserves dignity and healthy, delicious food to eat! We serve an average of 1,705 free meals per day. With SNAP cuts that’s going to go up. Worried about San Francisco’s families.

I have been trying to figure out how people recover from burnout in a system designed to have them stay burnt out.

For all the books and articles I’ve read, my friend put it best when they told me that recovery can only happen when nothing is expected of you for some time.

Charlie Kirk, Redeemed: A Political Class Finds Its Lost Cause By ignoring the rhetoric and actions of the Turning Point USA founder, pundits and politicians are sanitizing his legacy.

Ta-Nehasi Coates is doing a lot of things with this essay, but one of the most important is fearlessly using examples of anti-trans hate to describe Charlie Kirk's politics.

The contrast between his choices and those of other writers for major legacy outlets is revealing.

Can you explain to me what homoousian means in this skeet? Because I consider that word highly specific to theology so you're clearly using it in a different context I don't know about. Thank you!

I agree with what Erin says here, but would add that Newsom's recent comment citing the age of 25 is especially scary, as that's well beyond centrist-sounding "fairness in sports" rhetoric – it is a hardcore anti-trans activist talking point! it's like he is actively consuming 4thwavenow/TERF posts

Some users report Firefox scoffing CPU power : You guessed it: looks like it's a so-called AI

Many Linux users have recently reported their fans running at full speed and high temperatures. They discovered that Firefox was consuming all CPU cores, and it turns out that the cause was Firefox's new default AI features. I wrote last week about how the tech dream is ending for mid-career workers. This is a really good companion piece about how entry level tech jobs are vanishing, too, and the Silicon Valley gold rush is coming to a close: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/10/t...

Because I am from the South and have lived experience that says that is untrue just like the original poster, but since you're not open to reviewing data-backed arguments about the political situation in the South, I expect you will definitely dismiss my life experience in favor of your stereotypes.

Every reputable expert I know considers mRNA vaccine technology to be one of the most revolutionary advances in medicine in our lifetimes. Its inventors won the Nobel Prize in 2023. Shutting it down now is pointless self-harm to humanity.

As a rule if you need to say you're an "ethicist's ethicist" you have some incredibly illogical heterodox view that you are clinging to against all reason.

Gerrymandering is one cause of those landslides. I encourage you to investigate the work of the Princeton Gerrymandering Project on the mathematics of redistricting, but pretty much anything you read on gerrymandering will use the situation in the South as a textbook example.

The expansion of American transphobia from a minority position is almost wholly astroturfed (more like astroTERFed) by a few writers, editors, and capitalists at the Times, the Atlantic, and maybe NYMag.

The South is highly gerrymandered dating back to segregation in order to ensure that Republicans retain their hold. It's much more politically complex than you think.
