this is what gets me: sure, not every dem has mamdani's politics, & not every city, state, or district will be won over by mamdani's positions (sadly). but his campaign tactics are obviously replicable, even by people who aren't the same kind of candidate

i don't care abt coverage needlessly speculating abt the midterms, which are in a year & who knows what'll be different, but i feel like there are obvious strategic implications right now that dems in congress probably won't heed

dems winning big is not just consistent w/ regime's low popularity but also w/ data showing the kinds of voters who show up in an off year are way more likely to be dems, i think it's notable tho that this election is happening during a gov shutdown which the gov has been trying hard to pin on dems

big takeaway from the election results tonight imo should be "dems should not cave on the government shutdown w/o hard concessions"

ftr i'm still proud of what i've done & i'm gonna try to finish the story today. i've now crossed 550k words for the year & had my most productive recorded day, month, & week in october 2025 (a week that didn't even include yesterday, so, neat)

(my previous record, from april, was 14,342 words in 1 day. yesterday i wrote 14,575 words & still did not finish the god damn story i was working on)

somehow i've spent the last few days writing entirely non-speculative/non-surreal/i guess "normal" fiction & been really productive. i think it's bc i haven't been thinking of it as writing a story. i'm just sketching out characters who could be in a different story, which would be much weirder

today marks 200 consecutive days that i've hit the 1,000 word mark (last day i didn't write was 4/9). in those 200 days i have written 444,951 words. almost 525k for 2025 so far. my goal rn is 700k for the year but even if i don't make that i am doing okay
