What changes can you expect to see
All buildings are required to have a certain number of single-sex toilets based on the building occupancy. In selected buildings, where this number has been met, we will be creating additional universal toilet provision by changing some existing male or female single-sex toilets to provide more choice for staff, students and visitors.

As these single-sex toilets already meet the standard for a universal toilet, we will just be changing the signage from a single-sex toilet sign to a universal toilet sign and no major building work will take place.

Universal toilets are fully enclosed units and are for universal use for all who choose to use them. These facilities are different to accessible toilets which are designed to be wheelchair accessible. The work to change single-sex toilets to universal toilets will not impact the number of accessible toilets available.

Great to see that @sheffielduni.bsky.social's response to the EHRC nonsense has been to increase universal toilet provision across campus. Really shows there are inclusive ways to response to the anti-trans climate. Bravo.

The growing paranoia of British politics A vacuum exists at the apex of British government, and at some point this weakness will lead to a challenge.

Recent allegations of a plot at the highest levels of UK government point to the emergence of a new and increasingly paranoid style in British politics based on exaggeration, suspicion and conspiratorial fantasy, writes Prof Matt Flinders for @theconversation.com
