The first Shenmue game takes place in 1986, in Yokozuka, Japan. If you beat the game once, you'll have the option to use "actual weather" from 1986-87. This will cause the weather conditions in Shenmue to precisely mirror the historical weather conditions of Yokosuka, down to the hour.

I remain a staunch defender of Chrono Cross. Gorgeous game, with more little strings connecting it to Trigger than people give credit for, especially once you've played Radical Dreamers. The whole connective tissue all the way through all three is what makes it feel deeper and more important.

It's not often that you can call one of your favorite classic video game composers a friend, but Masashi Kageyama was a special case.

Knight of the Round Creating unnecessarily-heavy Final Fantasy arrangements since 2008.

If you're looking for something a little more trashy and heavier with video game music I'd *super* recommend Knight of the Round. They're FF focused so not Metroid related but they kick ass.
