07.08.2025 23:43 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Given our awful record on traffic safety & the fact that traffic cameras still haven't been replaced in most of the city, it is an especially bad time to roll back traffic calming measures.
Council needs to pass a policy that says removing safety infrastructure requires prior approval by council.

Please help to protect this critical safety infrastructure!
Excellent investigative reporting @bikeportland.org on City plans to remove diverters.
Big diverters slow car traffic & reclaim street space for people.
BikeLoud @strongtownspdx.bsky.social Bike Advisory Committee question City motives.
@councilorgreen.bsky.social supports diverters.
Stay tuned..
I am receiving significant constituent communications opposing the removal of active transportation / pedestrian safety infrastructure slated to be removed in NW Portland. I'm deeply concerned with this move, believe it sets us back, and actively working to find a suitable public forum to discuss

It is weird that the proposed rules include mandatory off street parking. Protect farmland by turning farmland into parking spaces?

In addition to the massive crowds downtown for Portland's #NoKings march, there were also smaller groups on street corners and bridges all over the city, from Sellwood, South Waterfront, Mt. Tabor, Hillsdale. Incredible turnout.

Portland legalized fourplexes with smart regulations a few years ago, and it's unlocking housing abundance and affordability beyond most people's highest expectations.
Cities that need more homes regular people can afford (and who doesn't) should do likewise.
π’A new study from @uniofbath.bsky.social shows London's low emissions zones have had major benefits for human health and the economy, with a 10.2% decrease in respiratory issues following LEZ implementation, an **18.5%** reduction in sick leave, and annual public health savings of over Β£37 million.

Exactly! Every PPS school board member should be begging their city councilors to legalize more housing.
Kudos to @robgalanakis.bsky.social who is the only school board member or candidate to publicly take a stance on this so far.
