liangshui is an elderly butch. she used to be an opera performer of sheng roles, most prominently xiaosheng. she retired from it few years ago and now runs her own radio station, which specializes on operas and radio dramas. she's sophisticated, elegant, charming, but also very proud and kinda classist.
william is an ex-pirate and a page to an evil god(in very simple terms). he clashes with his godly teacher constantly cuz she's a huge asshole and william himself is very idealistic and justice-driven. he's essentially a folk hero who travels around helping people in need.
marcelle is a spoiled brat coming from dysfunctional marriage of a famous actress and a theater director. she's kinda insufferable but it's okay because she has that failgirl charm.
mahaut is an acting executioner of a cathedral. despite her gnarly job she's shy and very nervous. she sees her job as kindness and that she guides tormented souls to a place of peace. she's also very religious but its for a fictional religion from their world. her species is a shrike hshshs im just procrastinating on finishing the reference
