I’m trying to remain positive, but the hits just keep coming. I tell myself that 80% of what he has wrought so far is illegal, and will be stopped, but I can’t trust the judiciary either. I can’t even retreat into baseball, because of the ownership dispute.

It’s the latter. They circumvent a lot of the luxury tax with them. A lot of those deferments won’t be paid until that player is no longer a Dodger, so it won’t ever count against the luxury tax.

Except that other teams wouldn’t be able to pay that ludicrous amount of money down the road, so no one would take that contract.

On the bright side, only 22 days until pitchers and catchers report.

I call BS. The Dodgers have played the system with massively deferred contracts, which limits the effectiveness of the already somewhat ineffectual revenue sharing system. Other sports, NFL for example, share revenue much more evenly, including broadcast revenues.

So I keep seeing lowlights of his inaugural address, but perhaps I’m being blinded by my echo chamber. Did he say anything even remotely like what you would expect from the “leader of the free world”?
