Also, congrats for the Sahelanthropus paper, is great to have a new study about this enigmatic taxon :)

In any case, we clearly need to examine additional regions of the skeleton to obtain a more comprehensive picture of its behavior (more studies are in preparation!).

Hi Jeffrey, yes: Pliobates is a clear example of the mosaic, stepwise (and often parallel) evolution of the catarrhine postcranium, and it nicely illustrates the complexity involved in reconstructing locomotor repertoires in fossil catarrhines, including Miocene apes

Comparison of ankle dorsiflexion using XROMM and external angular kinematics in a quadrupedally walking macaque Summary: Different approaches to measuring ankle dorsiflexion capture different underlying kinematics. Evidence indicates that dorsiflexion at the talocrural joint is actively limited during walking i...

First official postdoc paper out in @jexpbiol.bsky.social! We compare different approaches to studying kinematics in a macaque ankle and note that the talocrural joint seems to contribute minimally to dorsiflexion of the foot during stance phase. journals.biologists.com/jeb/article/...
