Book 31 of 2025: THE LOVED ONE by Evelyn Waugh. A brutally funny sendup of the American funeral industry—but the author treats all his characters viciously. I enjoyed it but maybe Waugh needed to go to therapy?

Has anyone else been having weirdly stressful dreams lately? A bunch of people I know have, including me. In one, my teeth were chipping and crumbling away—classic dream stuff. In another, I was in a group that was kidnapped & held for ransom because one of the group members was quite wealthy.
