Music is now fragmented, with numerous platforms and niches. We no longer have single, shared cultural moments.

I just realized it's similar with movies. We stream stuff from many different services. I don't even know the name of one of my favorite new actors. I've seen her in lots of stuff.

The music eras are gone because of streaming. Every decade between the 50s and the 90s has a distinct sound and zeitgeist hits everyone knows. Music was centralized. We heard it on the radio and on TV and in movies.

Now an artist we've never heard about can have 50 million listeners on Spotify.

The only Billy Joel songs I've actively listened to are Piano Man, Just the Way You Are, and Downeaster Alexa because they're terrific songs. Watched this doc about him anyway.

He talks about his life and music. Lots of old footage and interviews with other artists. Excellent music doc. HBO Max.

Dangerous Animals (2025) was good fun. An outlandish shark movie with a killer twist. Also: romance!

Yes! Green Room. That's the ending scene. I also think it's valid horror.

I actually thought about watching it just a couple of hours ago. Love the first two acts. I think it gets mildly annoying in the third.

Maybe more thriller than horror. Either way, I've seen it at least five times since 2015 I haven't gotten tired of it yet.

If all those 1800 kcal become excess energy, it could lead to a 1 kg weight gain a month. It's so much easier to put energy into the system than it is to burn it. Especially with those tasty treats that quickly add up. I'll try to only eat actual food now for a few months and see what happens.

I knew I do a lot of comfort eating but I didn't realize it was to this extent. Haha

That's impressive. Nice work! Last fall I made a spreadsheet in Google Sheets where I enter everything I eat just for the taste of it: candy, chocolate, pastries, salty fried snacks and so on. In other words, everything "unhealthy" with lots of calories.

19.2kg in 8.5 months. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I can hardly think of any really sad movie deaths. Maybe:

Milla in Babyteeth
Jack in Titanic
Christopher McCandless in Into the Wild
Brooks in Shawshank
Maude in Harold and Maude
Jack in Brokeback Mountain

Opening up โ€˜Zero-Knowledge Proofโ€™ technology to promote privacy in age assurance Today, we open sourced our Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) libraries, fulfilling a promise and building on our partnership with Sparkasse to support EU age assurance.

Why aren't they using a modern, seamless and secure solution for age verification that protects user privacy, like this one? UK government noobs?

Just learned that Europe had elephants up until around 30 000 years ago. The Straight-tusked elephant. They could reach a height of 4.2 meters and weigh up to 15 tonnes.

The elephants even lived in northern places like Great Britain, Poland and Denmark. Very cool.

I doubt some of the films have been seen by anyone except the editor. Several of them have no IMDb ratings at all. Found one he did with Rosanna Arquette and Kevin Pollak.

9.0/10 based on 13 ratings (by the cast and crew). How obscure.

Is this real? What the hell. Is he even more indiscriminate than Bruce Willis was during his final acting years?

One Day on Netflix. An engaging British love story spanning many years.

Spectacular soundtrack. Elliott Smith, Nico, Pixies, Badly Drawn Boy, Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, Radiohead, Blur, Magnetic Fields, The Kinks, Lou Reed, Jeff Buckley...

Reminded me a bit of Normal People.

I love everything about this picture. Great look. Your glasses match the cardigan. My beard isn't quite as big as yours yet, but I'm working on it.

Deep Cover made me laugh out loud several times. I didn't know Orlando Bloom could be this funny.

Very cool. I actually watched all the Final Destination movies on Max recently. I had only seen the first and that was 25 years ago. The repetitive premise almost became comforting after a while. The new one is supposed to be actually good?

Maybe Kid 2 would like Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. It has puzzles and shit gets blown up. Or Escape Room where they're trapped inside mystery rooms. But that's a horror movie.

The same shoes in this color were on sale here last summer. Nearly ordered a pair, but I was unsure of my size. Now I'm jealous.

I get what the director was aiming for. I just didn't get anything out of it. Watched the film after reading a glowing review in Rolling Stone I believe.

Did it get better like Marmite?
