Only issue?  

He'd have to loan it from Akane, who would not be happy to hear such a request from Aizawa. Especially if it had nothing to do with the benefit of their daughter.

She was going to eat him alive, but he sent the text anyway

[[I need a big favor from you...]]

//wow..// he thought to himself seeing those numbers on the screen

¥1,500,000 just for that band. They must be goddamn good dancers if they were expensive.  

The thing is, Aizawa knew a way to get the money quickly enough to buy the wristband.

Aizawa then did some digging and scrolled through his phone to find out where he could get one of those wristbands. 

The only things he could find that were related to them were images of people wearing them or the link to the website that showed the prices.

“Go ahead and get some rest, I'm gonna take care of something real quick.” Aizawa told Eri. 

She nodded and opened the door to her room before looking back at her father.  

The little girl looked like she had something to say, but no words came out as she walked inside and closed the door.

Heck, he didn't even have a bed.  All he had was a yellow sleeping bag on the floor—and even that was partially covered by folders and case documents.

“It's more comfortable” he always told others. (coping)

His room on the other hand was a mess.  His work took over the entire bedroom, papers scattered on the floor and what looked to be file cabinets instead of dressers. It didn't help that it looked more like an office than a place to rest.

They finally arrived at his apartment complex. It wasn't large, but his salary gave him enough to afford one with 2 bedrooms. One for him, the other just for Eri.  Both rooms could easily be told apart.

Eri's room was filled with stuffed animals and “girly things” that he was hoping she'd like.

Her face showed no signs of irritation nor dismay, but even so, he couldn't help but be concerned.

//I'm worrying too much…// he thought to himself.

His view returned back to the road in front of him, his pensive thoughts focused elsewhere

They waved the barista farewell and made their way out to Aizawa's car.  The car ride was once again silent, neither of them striking conversation. 

He glanced at the mirror to see what Eri was doing, only to see her looking out the window.

That brings out her smile once more as she knew he kept most of his promises.  They remained at the cafe for almost another hour until Aizawa figured it was best to leave.

Eri mimicked Aizawa with her little hand and giggled.

“What is it?” She asked him

He couldn't help but smirk as he answered, “If I tell you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore”

“Oh… right..” she pouts

“When it's no longer a secret, I promise to tell you.”

“Are you on another secret mission?”

Aizawa didn't like talking about his job with a 6 year old, but he just couldn't resist an opportunity to bond with her either.  

“Yep. Very secret.” he whispered while bringing a finger to his lips to gesture to keep quiet.

“Order ready!” The barista called out. 

Aizawa got up and walked back to the counter, picked up the items that were placed on a tray, and sat back down, calling Eri to join him.

They shared the moment together in silence until Eri was surprisingly the one to break it.

Eri didn't move or say anything, neither did Misty.  They simply had a staring contest.

In the end, Eri hesitantly reached her hand out and held it there in the air.  Misty leaned forward to sniff it and brushed her head against Eri's palm.  Eri's eyes lit up and from then on, that was “her” cat.

She hid behind him when the barista said hi and asked for her order.  Eri was very afraid of the cats at first, hiding away from them all so they didn't get near her.

That's when she met Misty. 

The cat meowed and cautiously approached the little girl and sat in front of her.

Aizawa was pleased to see his daughter still delighted with this cafe. As he gazed with a soft expression rested upon his face, a memory of bringing her here for the first time washed over his mind.

The two made their way to the spot where most of the cats were laying.  Eri rushed over to her favorite cat, a female Russian Blue.

“Hi Misty…” she whispered to her with a smile. 

Misty purred as Eri brushed her hand against her fur.

The barista bowed respectfully with a warm smile and got to work, immediately brewing the coffee.  She brought out a glass bottle of milk and poured some into a cup that had kittens painted on them.  As she warmed the milk, the aroma of the coffee beans began to fill the cafe.

Aizawa then approached the counter and ordered what they always got when he was with Eri.

“One coffee, a cup of warm milk and two cat muffins”.

It was just the two of them. There was a bit of an awkward silence before Aizawa asked her, “Want something to eat?  Or are you thirsty?”

Eri looked up to him and nodded softly,

“Yes” she mumbled.  

“The usual?”

Another nod.

“Take care, and please don't leave her alone.  I'm sure you're busy, but don't do that to her.  Please.” she requested.  Aizawa nodded in response. 

“I promise.”

Satisfied, Akane smiled and walked out the cafe, got in her car and drove off.

“I don't want to hear it, just see to it that it doesn't become a regular thing, Shota.” Akane said.  “I gotta go.  Be careful Eri.” she told the little girl while leaning down to hug her.  Once she got back up, she hugged Aizawa who returned the embrace.

“Sorry, I was up all night trying to figure something out.  I didn't mean to keep you both waiting.” Aizawa apologized.  He looked down to Eri and waved with a soft grin to her.  “Hey kiddo.”

Eri waved back with a shy expression like always. 

“Hi…” she mumbled in response.

However, her ex husband was lacking in punctuality when it was time to take care of Eri.  They both promised to each other to never put her in the middle of anything, but they also had to make it clear that they weren't together anymore.

Though where was her help raising a child and supporting herself with everything?  It made her feel like she didn't matter to him, so it hurt when she handed him the documents to finalize it. 

They bore no grudges against each other thankfully and were still decently close.

Meeting Eri was like a blessing, one she wished for so long to come to her.

What ended their marriage however was Aizawa's lack of communication when he was off “helping others” as he put it.  She loved that he was doing something good.

He was only 29 at the time of this bust and was married to Akane at the time as well.  

She didn't mind that Aizawa took the responsibility of a disturbed child.  In fact, she supported it.  She was infertile, so having a child of her own was off the table.

He still remembers to this day when he adopted Eri after saving the poor girl from her previous living conditions.  

Seeing Eri's scared face while everyone was being arrested around her, including her father, Aizawa was quick to comfort her.
