Two hikers with red and orange waterproof jackets on, wearing sunglasses. Both have hoods up making it look like it's cold. In the background are Scottish hills under a grey sky.
Plenty of wind up Ben Gulabin this afternoon. Out with Leon, having a slight Blues Brothers vibe.

A moody black and white photo of two hikers and a dog walking through the mist towards the sun.
On Sunday, the summit of Glas Maol proved atmospheric. It was nice to get out and introduce someone new to hillwalking in the Cairngorms.
Oh, views were had later. This was just a thin bank of cloud around the summit.

The stars have aligned. I'm finally getting back to the hills tomorrow. It's been too long. Will do something from Glenshee Ski Centre to introduce a neighbour's son to the hills. Will pick east vs west when we get there. β°οΈπ₯Ύ

I love Glen Derry. Particularly the changes I've witnessed over the past (almost) 40 years. Changes for the better, I hasten to add.
Don't think I've been there this year, though π

Stormy weather and flattened tents
This is part 5 of my Iceland series.
The first thing I spotted was that Stefanβs tent was entirely gone. Not collapsed. Gone.

New byelaw boosts wildfire mitigation in National Park
A seasonal fire byelaw for the National Park has been approved by Scottish Government ministers.

I finally bought a rack to take the bikes to the hills. It's only taken 18 months...

A lake under a clear blue sky. Many people are on the lake on paddleboards, or swimming, and also standing.
I went paddleboarding with my family to Lochore in Fife. We had a great day out on the water. My wife now wants an inflatable kayak with a comfy, padded seat.
I've started thinking about what adventures could be unlocked. If I do get one, it needs to be able to carry two people plus camping gear...

Me and Leon standing on an elevated position with ΓΓ³rsmΓΆrk laid out behind us. The vivid green moss contrasts with the rugged, rocky terrain in the background.
Returned safely from the Iceland trip.
Weather was challengingβlocals even said it was bad! Strong gusts flattened our tent around our faces. Advised to skip the FimmvΓΆrΓ°uhΓ‘ls trail, so we had an extra day to explore ΓΓ³rsmΓΆrk. Not a bad thing.
The house is a bombsite with gear airing everywhere! π
