I listened to the audio book of Anne of Green Gables about 5 years ago and was startled to find it was about Marilla and Matthew getting a new start in life in middle age after the death of their abusive father. It's not about Anne. Also, Mrs Rachel Lynde is lovely, not a monster.

Sometimes I go to buy him a more hygienic ceramic or metal bowl, then he pulls this stunt and I resolve to stay with cheap, lightweight, quiet, plastic.

Now he's banging his bowl on the floor to demand service (he's already had dinner)
