My dad worked for USPS for more than 40 years. He was never a carrier to my knowledge, but I learned to appreciate things like ZIP codes.

I grew up reading old Peanuts comics, and sometimes I forget that not everyone has that trivia knowledge of Peanuts that I do. The bit with 5 was excellent, maybe especially because he was introduced in 1963 (a fact I did have to look up).

The character “5” is super deep Peanuts lore, isn’t he?

Just a reminder during the holiday season

My alternate number is 41, because it was assigned to me one year of HS baseball. I wasn’t any good, but it’s not a number in common use, so I enjoy its uniqueness, and it sort of serves as a reminder that I’ve dealt with adversity in sports.

I always wear 16 if it’s available. I wore it once in little league and had a great season, which happened to be around the time Mike Blowers, wearing 16, hit like three grand slams in a month for the Mariners.

Animaniacs was some pretty good cartooning, though I guess that was WB.

As a bit, I am entertained. If I were forced to take this seriously I’d have to launch people through a folding table like a Bills tailgate.

I was just scrolling FB and saw someone take a very strong position that Bonds was better than Griffey, and sure, the numbers say that, but you may as well tell me you just don’t like art.

It's not for me to say whether or not any individual person should decide to go through medically assisted suicide.

It is absolute ghoulish behavior for it to be used coercively by a healthcare provider, insurance company, and/or anyone in medical whatsoever.

I will be the first to admit I couldn’t understand why anyone would oppose Assisted Dying… and then I became disabled and had it “offered” to me.

It’s not compassionate when there’s coercion.

It’s not dignified when it’s offered in lieu of care.

I think there's an easy contrast with Griffey, who undoubtedly is a family-first guy, too.

A big difference, though, is that Griffey really struggled with the expectations early on, before his MLB career took off, and he was well-connected to players and history once he got himself right.
