An administrative stay was just issued for the 1985 parental notification law. It WILL NOT go into effect on April 30. We will update with the new timeline as we know it.

Parental notification will not and can not create a healthy home environment where one doesn’t already exist.

Many minors already consult their parents, making this law duplicative. For many others, abuse, incest, safety threats, and a myriad of other concerns keep them from disclosing their abortion. Minors can make these decisions for themselves.

This is based solely on control and not on safety. Minors deserve bodily autonomy.

Parental notification laws generally require written notification from the provider 24-48 hours before the minor can receive care.

On April 30, Nevada’s decades-old parental notification law will go into effect, requiring parents & guardians of minors be involved in their abortion decisions.
