I haven't been allowing myself time to make things at all so I'm thinking about starting "Throw Thursday" where I try to throw at least one pot.

I am mad two of my nicer bowls cracked a teeny bit on the bottoms but I had so much trouble with uneven drying in my winter studio, I'm not surprised. Some winners. Some glaze failures. It's always a surprise.

Here it is! I wish I had used lighter blues but I think it's a good first experiment! Carving out the details first probably would help with the blurring too:

Kiln: An antiquated evenheat acquired through eBay. It was thrashed in transit, and then, after much back and forth with the original company, sold us new bricks for since plc and coils were fine. This will be my 4th? 5th?i glaze fire

I learned what are the hot commercial glazes combos this time around. I picked ones that should interact in cool ways. Given my chemistry/lab background, I know making my own is the next step... Pottery ... it's a slippery slope, folks.

I'm calling this the Monet Bowl. I'm not sure how mixing these Mayco Stroke&Coat colors will fire but I'm excited.
